Supporting Our Brave is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) Registered No. 7366775 which was formed to offer a range of services for the Veteran, members of our Armed Forces and their families. The directors, staff and vast majority of the volunteers are Veterans themselves and work on a 'mates helping mates' attitude. Care, consideration and a sympathetic attitude is always shown to visitors whether just visiting the free admission exhibition or someone seeking help and advice.

There are an estimated 4 million veterans alive today. A veteran is classed as anyone who has served in HM Armed Forces. Each year 26,000 leave the forces and return to civilian life.
Most lead full and productive lives in the community but sadly some do not. There are an estimated 8,500 veterans in prison who have fallen by the wayside.

Simon Westen image Simon Westen said; I am delighted to be asked to be a patron of Supporting Our Brave the first ever 'one stop shop' in the UK looking after the interests of our Armed Forces and Veterans. Blackpool has for many years been the country's leading community in its support for Veterans. The range of advice and guidance available coupled with a wonderful free admission exhibition is a must for anyone who visits Blackpool.

The Ministry of Defence figures show that up to 2,000 members of the armed services are being diagnosed every year with a psychiatric condition after serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. This includes Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Homelessness amongst Veterans is a problem everywhere. In London alone there are an estimated 1,000 rough sleepers who have served in HM Armed Forces.

There are over 65 regimental associations and more than 75 service and ex-service associations in the UK, many visiting Blackpool for reunions, AGM's and social events. It is Supporting Our Brave aims to ensure all veterans and members of HM Armed Forces who visit the resort to have an enjoyable time and to have the respect of the town of Blackpool bestowed upon them. Many of the resorts, shops, pubs, restaurants, attractions and venues will want to warmly welcome veterans and serving personnel and Supporting Our Brave will endeavour to identify these facilities.

Blackpool boasts a wonderful Cenotaph and only the second Memorial Arboretum in the UK and Supporting Our Brave will work with associations who may wish to visit them.
