About us ….
We offer semi-independent accommodation to young people who are leaving foster care or a children’s home and wish to move on to independent living. There are 3 placements for 16-18 year olds who are in need of low to medium support services. Our staff comprises of; 3 part time support assistants, with floating managerial support from the owner. Support staff are on the premises every day, 24 hours a day.
The house is a spacious semi-detached family home. It is ideally situated to enable easy access to major bus routes, shopping and all the entertainments that Blackpool has to offer. Our aim is to make the house feel as much like a home as possible. Each housemate has their own room and shared access to: a lounge, dining room, sun terrace and kitchen. There are 2 toilets, one with a shower and other with a corner bath.
Each bedroom is fully furnished with a bed and furniture. Either on arrival or just before, you will be taken shopping and new bedding, room decorations and pictures chosen to your own colour scheme will be purchased.
We enjoy working with young people and our aim is to make you feel welcome, safe, looked after and supported. We try hard to create a family atmosphere and encourage housemates to also be involved in the running of the house and care of each other.
We hold monthly house meetings at which you can air your concerns or views and let us know what you think of the service you are receiving. Achievements by housemates at Fairfield are noted and celebrated.
Our aim is to ensure that you are supported to learn the skills you will need to move on into permanent accommodation, independently. We try to achieve this by:
• Allowing you to live your life as you want to, as far as possible, and at the same time for you to be aware that there is a huge amount of support available to you at all times should you need it. You only have to ask ….
• Keeping ourselves at a distance from you but maintaining close contact with you every day. This is achieved by daily ‘pop in’ support sessions, texts, emails, phone calls and key working sessions such as shopping, cooking and simply chatting in the ‘snug’
• Fostering a family ethos and atmosphere at Fairfield, housemates are encouraged to ‘look out for each other’
• Ensuring each housemate is aware of and responsible for, their personal safety and the safety of other housemates
• Working in close association with your key worker or social worker at all times
• Working with you on an individual package of support, tailored to your needs
• Providing support and guidance in assisting with budgeting and financial management
• Encouraging peer to peer mentoring between present and ex housemates, now in independent living
• Providing support and guidance in assisting with sourcing and maintaining education. Employment and training
• Working closely with you and your keyworker or social worker to fulfil the criteria of the North West Region Service
Operation specification – Leaving care/Independent Living Service.
